The legal filing seeks to safeguard workers’ access to justice and preserve the National Labor Relations Board’s ability to enforce labor law.

AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler issued the following statement marking one month since the federal government’s funding expired and a shutdown began:

Trump administration blocks more than $5 billion in SNAP contingency funds, jeopardizing thousands of jobs

The nation’s largest labor federation reminds Congress, “Workers and their families should not be used as pawns.” 

Over two weeks into the shutdown, more than 2 million workers have missed a paycheck. Of those, 750,000 are locked out of their jobs and 1.4 million are doing their jobs without pay. Meanwhile, the president continues to refuse to do his. As millions of Americans open letters warning of health care cost spikes they can’t afford, the White House reports President Trump is having “fun.”
